1. Pick the smaller plate.
This greatly assists with portion control because your brain gets tricked into thinking that it has a lot of food. If you see less, you crave less, and eat less. This is especially handy in self serve buffet situations.
2.Try to chew your food 30 times.
As recommended by Harvard Medical School, this forces you to take time and enjoy the flavors. This may also help prevent overeating by giving your gut time to send messages to the brain to say you’re full.
3.Turn off everything with a screen.
Ever get lost in your phone or the TV screen while eating and not realize when you’re finishing your food? These distractions make us less aware of what and how much we are eating. Be mindful of your food and spend time away from your screens!
4.Eat breakfast.
Many people don’t eat breakfast to save their appetite for the big dinner. In reality, skipping breakfast means that you will feel very hungry by dinnertime and be more likely to overeat. You also make more healthy and conscious choices when you’re not starving.
5.Savor your food!
It’s Thanksgiving! You don’t always get delicious meals like this so enjoy it! Remember everything is fine in moderation, and that if you’re mindful of what you eat, you won’t wreck your fitness goals.
